Lourdes Church selects June as the Month of Youth; and it organises various programmes for the empowerment of youth during this month. The 7:45AM Holy Mass, every Sunday is specially for the youth of this parish. After the Holy Mass, classes, debates, discussions etc. are conducted on relevant topics.
In the beginning of June, the K.C.Y.M. leaders along with the Director, visited all the youth at home, to invite them personally, for the three corner conventions, sports competition; and finally for the Youth Day on Sunday 26 th June.

The first corner convention was held on Sunday 05 th June 2005 under the leadership of Rev.Fr.Babu Puthenpurackal at the residence of Antony Chirakkadavil. 50 Youth from 13 wards of the parish participated in it. The Sports Day conducted on Saturday 11 th June, under the guidance of Fr.Benny Kuzhiadiyil, was a grand success.

On Sunday June 12 th, 75 members of the K.C.Y.M. from the 8 wards of the parish, participated in the second youth convention, held in the house of Sani Bejoy Murikken, under the guidance of Rev.Fr.Aby Changagerry. The third convention was held on June 19 th in Kishore Joy Kochuparambil’s House. 75 members from 8 wards participated in this convention. Selection of ward representatives, assignment of duties to the office bearers’ etc. were done during these conventions.

After the three corner conventions and Sports Day celebrations, on Sunday June 26 th the Youth Day was celebrated. The most wonderful and informative programme on the Youth Day was the panel discussions between the Youth and the Parents. The discussion was so open, interesting and lively that, the confused youths had an opportunity to reveal their ideas and parents had an occasion to share their hopes and anxieties. The presence of Rev. Dr. Mani Puthiyidom was a blessing for the occasions.

Another unforgettable moment shared by the youth of our Parish was the reception given to the ‘Blessed Relics’ of St:Thomas and the Adoration under their leadership in our church on that day. “Garshom” – is a special programme organized for maintaining good relations between the youth –both in and out of the parish.

We are really thankful to Rev.Fr.Babu Puthenpurackal who has been guiding us for the last three years; now we are hopefully anticipating the good activities that would be carried out under the guidance of our new director Rev.Fr.Aby Changagerry
